Second, if you have the box, there should be a four-digit number on label on the end of the box. The number indicates the date of manufacture - the first number is the year and the next three numbers are the day. It is assumed that you know the decade of manufacture. There is no serial number lookup tool to indicate if the Shield is "legit", so I don't know how this person would even be able to tell if the serial number is real or not, plus fake Shields are not a thing. I tried to get info on a model 10 and found most people telling me to buy the book. S&W puts out a book to look up manufacture dates. No one would look it up for me because they paid for the book and I did not.
