I hate having to explain to a new player why the vast majority of the people they are interacting with are not people they can join a guild with, or aren’t even on their server. Dalaran wow has outdated inferior scripts and low pop, while Cromiecraft is still in its lvling phase (they release 10 by 10 lvls every few months or so) with sub 1k pop at best and by now is considered a meme in the community. You see people from other servers sometimes but it’s not all the time. Moon Guard! MG is actually not very populated. Most of the people you see there are just people sitting in the towns RPing, but in terms of doing content, it’s a fairly small server. Lagaran represent! Nothing is wrong with stormrage. I want to play on a faction balanced server where I can roll with both Horde and Alliance. Like when I play on either faction I want to see people …Having everyone on a realm be your faction means ALOT more players. Whereas the 50/50 split could make a big realm feel like a low pop one. I'm not sure of the status of the big pvp realms but I'm pretty sure the top ones like sargeras, Illidan and tichondrius are all weighted one way or the other as well.(again pvpers can chime in here)NA Population estimates September 5, 2022. This is obviously not perfect but is a much closer estimate than Ironforge.Pro or CensusPlusWOTLK.Wobling Goblin is a lesser-known PVE server (progressing through the original trilogy, currently in Vanilla) based out of Oceania. Population is definitely low, however a single character can learn all professions in the game (blacksmithing, alchemy, skinning, etc.) instead of having a cap. Depends on the faction. I love Silvermoon ( I am pve alliance): mixed origin players, very competitive, friendly players, possible to make a lot of money from AH, good guilds, friendly environment overall.
